In Year 11, students officially begin their GCSE studies, building upon their skills from KS3. As such, this is a vital year, as all classwork and homework now focuses upon GCSE content and approaches necessary for students to succeed in their exams and beyond.

Students will be guided through their studies by their class teachers, and supported by their form tutor and Head of Year. Our school career advisor, Mr Corry and external careers company, Innervate, will meet with students and discuss their aspirations for the future, and how these can best be achieved.

As the time for revision approaches, numerous drop-in clinics and independent study groups are available, to allow students to further deepen their knowledge and secure their understanding.

Outside of the classroom, a wide-range of extra-curricular activities are available through CHS’s enrichment programme, with a vast array of sporting and performing arts activities, as well as clubs for technology, languages, literacy and numeracy. With a view to developing strong ties with the community, several students will also visit a local care home to meet with elderly residents and have the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. Above all, Year 11 students are encouraged to believe in themselves, try their best each and every day, build positive relationships with all and make exceptional progress, aiming to be as successful as they can be.
