Home Test Kits:

Students have now transitioned to using Covid-19 Home Test Kits. Staff and students now test twice weekly at home on a Monday and Thursday morning, or the previous evening if more convenient.

Participation in the testing scheme is optional; no student or staff member will be turned away from school because they have not participated.

Parents/guardians are required to register the outcome of each student's Covid-19 test with NHS Test and Trace via the self report website https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result and also report to school via Arbor https://login.arbor.sc/.

What if a pupil tests positive?

Participating staff and pupils who test positive must inform the school of the test result as soon as possible by email to covid@chertseyhighschool.co.uk, to NHS Test and Trace and by telephoning the school office.

They will need to take a further ‘PCR test’ (similar to those done in local and regional testing sites) on the same day (or as soon as possible). You can go to www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or call 119 to book a follow-up test. If ordering a PCR test yourselves, they should choose to visit a drive-through test site if possible, as it is faster than requesting a home test.

During this time while they wait for the PCR result (via email) they will need to self-isolate.

If the PCR test returns a positive result you will have to self-isolate and follow the guidance from NHS Test and Trace.

What if a close contact at school/college tests positive?

A close contact of someone in school/college who has tested positive for COVID-19 will need to self-isolate as per the national guidelines. This does not apply to their household unless someone develops symptoms in which case a PCR test should be taken and national guidelines on self-isolation followed.

What happens if the test is negative or void?

All results need to be reported to NHS Test and Trace and school via Arbor.

Students who test negative should attend school as normal.  If your test result is void, please report it as normal to NHS Test and Trace and school and then carry out another Lateral Flow Test.

What if my child develops symptoms?

This testing programme at Chertsey High school is for people with no symptoms. If your child develops symptoms at any time (such as a high temperature; a new, continuous cough; or a loss or change to their sense of smell or taste) they must immediately self-isolate, and book a test by calling 119 (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) or 0300 303 2713 (Scotland) or visiting https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

How do I order another test kit?

Students will be issued with test kits on a regular basis.  If you have any issues with kits (such as missing items) or you have run out of tests please email covid@chertseyhighschool.co.uk and we will pass another kit to your child.

Letters regarding Home Testing Kits

Students will be issued with home test kits once they have completed 3 tests at the Asymptomatic Test Site in school.
