Encouraging excellence

Chertsey High School provides students with a modern, stimulating learning environment. All subject areas have suites of rooms and outstanding specialist resources. Amongst these are a suite of purpose built Technology workshops, well-equipped Science laboratories and Modern Foreign Language rooms. Our Sports facilities are also impressive, boasting a full-size, floodlit, all-weather pitch, large sports hall and additional dance studio. Students also have the opportunity to read and study in The Library, staffed by enthusiastic and skilled staff. Our full range of ICT facilities provide a wide variety of resources and digital applications to our students, to ensure that they can access all they need to be confident, creative and productive in the essential skills needed in our rapidly evolving digital age. Our facilities in the Arts are exemplary. We have specialist Drama studios; Music and Art rooms, a fully equipped Dance studio; alongside additional, individual Music practice rooms.

Extended Learning Experiences

Our aim is to nurture and develop each student. We therefore allow them to take part in a range of Extra Curricular Experiences (‘Extra Curricular Days'). These not only help them to develop their learning and foster creativity, but also widen their experiences and open up new horizons and opportunities to discover talents, passions and hobbies that they may never have considered before.

Extra-curricular activities: clubs, trips & visits

Extra-curricular activities are an important and exciting feature of school life and contribute enormously to our students’ social and academic development. There is an extensive menu of extra-curricular activities on offer including exceptional Arts and sporting provision with opportunities to take part in workshops, field trips and research. We also offer students the chance to experience different cultures and experiences through our range of national and international trips and visits, to educational venues linked to curricular areas. Theatre trips, visits to exhibitions and museums plus excursions to local colleges and universities also occur regularly and provide further opportunities for students to enrich and extend their learning beyond the classroom. We have a broad range of experiences on offer including  the Duke of Edinburgh Award and Debate Club. Students readily enjoy these experiences and relish the unique opportunities that they are given to extend and expand their learning.

Year 9 students have been looking at Australia and diversity. They looked at wildfires and how this impacts their population and environment. Great work below showing key questions being answered, labelled drawing and starting to explain why it is an issue! @ChertseyHigh https://t.co/en2AiL6X8Z

Do you need help writing Data Analysis? Students have been using 'DEAL' to help them. Some students even structured their answer with DEAL to compare sites with environmental quality in their homes. Great work! @ChertseyHigh https://t.co/hTdheEMef7

It is amazing to see that through remote learning students are still carefully choosing the task (A, B or C) that they can do and then adding to their key question throughout their notes. This is fantastic to see! @ChertseyHigh https://t.co/DQSeC7juJ3
