Homework Expectations
We adhere to clear expectations regarding homework completion:
- Key Stage 3 (KS3) Core subjects: One task per subject per week
- Key Stage 3 (KS3) Non-core subjects: One task per subject per fortnight
- Key Stage 4 (KS4): At least one hour per subject per week
Homework Assignments
All homework is assigned through Satchel One. Students are expected to:
- Check their Satchel One accounts daily
- Submit work on time and to the required standard
- Seek help from teachers if they're struggling with an assignment
Assessment and Feedback
Teachers will check that homework has been completed in the first lesson following the deadline. This may be in the form of a quiz or test at the beginning of the lesson.
Feedback will be given within two weeks of completion. They use various methods to assess homework, including:
- Peer assessment
- Self-assessment
- Teacher marking
- Automated online marking for certain subjects
Feedback is provided to help students understand their progress and areas for improvement.
Parent/Carer Support
We value the role of parents and carers in supporting their child's learning. You can help by:
- Ensuring your child has a quiet place to study
- Encouraging regular homework habits
- Discussing assignments with your child
- Contacting the school if you have any concerns about homework
