- 1-1 Device Programme
At Chertsey High School, every Year 7 pupil receives a school-managed iPad as part of our 1:1 Device Programme. This ensures that all students have equal access to the digital tools, resources and learning opportunities they need, both in school and at home.
Our programme is designed to support high-quality teaching and learning by helping pupils stay organised, collaborate effectively, access feedback quickly and develop independent learning habits. Educational research and practice from schools with established 1:1 programmes highlight the importance of providing every child with consistent access to technology and learning resources.
Importantly, iPads are intended to enhance, not replace, traditional learning tools. Textbooks, exercise books and direct teacher instruction remain central to learning at Chertsey High School, with technology used where it adds value and supports pupils in achieving their best.
By providing every Year 7 student with a managed device, we can ensure a consistent, secure and purposeful approach to technology in the classroom. Pupils can access learning materials and feedback at any time, while built-in safeguarding systems and training help them develop the knowledge and habits needed to use technology safely and responsibly.
Our aim is simple: to equip every pupil with the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world, while maintaining the strong foundations of excellent teaching, high-quality resources and effective classroom practice.
